Last Saturday our church had their bi-annual Men's Breakfast at the airport; planes, cars, bikes, and breakfast! I was asked to take photos of the event, so I talked with a friend of mine about coming a little early in order to take some nice sunrise shots. He brought his BMW all shined up and we got it placed and started shooting.
I'm super happy with the results! I shot these "posed" photos for less than thirty minutes but came away with all the photos needed to make some stellar images. In order to make sure I captured all the detail—from the pale colors of the pre-dawn sky to the color of the car's dark shadows—I shot series of images to combine in an HDR method. Also, I made sure to get a headlight shot to composite on top.
The three photos below are the photos I used to put the first image together. They are unedited.
I added the plane from another shot and the headlights from a fourth car shot.

Here's another example of my HDR work. I used the same process on all the images in this post.
The most difficult part of editing this one was cleaning up the right side of the propeller.
It took a long time to get it right.
